Greenpoint 2 completes first full day in electric operation

Hybrid Cabin RIB Greenpoint 2 during electric operations on the Veerse Meer

Greenpoint 2 has progressed from sea trials to commercial service. During its first full operational day on the Veerse Meer, the Hybrid Cabin RIB supported official vessel traffic operations for eleven consecutive hours. The entire assignment was completed under electric propulsion, without interruption, and with 38% battery capacity remaining at the end of the day.

Commercial operations begin on the Veerse Meer

Greenpoint 2 was deployed at the busy junction where the Veerse Meer meets the Kanaal door Walcheren. Working alongside the official traffic guidance operation, the vessel supported safe and efficient vessel movements throughout the day.

The eleven-hour assignment was completed entirely under electric power. No intermediate charging or operational interruption was required. Even after a full day on the water, the battery system still indicated 38% remaining capacity.

This provides practical evidence that electric propulsion can support extended professional assignments, rather than being limited to controlled trials or short demonstration runs.

A second electric assignment from Veere

The following morning, Greenpoint 2 returned to service from Veere for a crew transfer involving two vessels. This assignment was also completed entirely under electric propulsion.

Moving directly from traffic support to crew transfer demonstrates the flexibility required of a commercial workboat. Greenpoint 2 combines the manoeuvrability of a professional RIB with a protected cabin and a propulsion configuration designed for varied operational profiles.

Electric propulsion in everyday service

Greenpoint 2 is a Hybrid Cabin RIB developed for professional marine operations. Its hybrid configuration provides operational flexibility, while suitable assignments can be completed entirely under electric power. During electric operation, the vessel produces less noise and no local exhaust emissions.

Its first commercial assignments are therefore more than another stage in a test programme. They show a working vessel carrying out regular operational duties and returning with energy capacity to spare.
